When Batista came to know that the HBK Shawn Michaels has faked a knee injury so that he might be able to defeat him at Backlash, Batista made a promise to hurt Shawn. He kept his words at the Stretcher Match at One Night Stand, where he defeated his rival Shawn by dragging him atop the stretcher and pushing it across the finish line.

This is how the match progressed, HBK jumps at Batista in the start but the Animal pushes him down. After giving clothesline to HBK, he drops him over the stretcher near the ring. He sends Batista to the steel steps. He then laid Batista on the steps, guided the stretcher at his chest and put him on the stretcher. Batista slams his knees at HBK’s head to the rescue. But HBK rolls Batista over the stretcher again and started steering towards the finish line. Batista stops him.

HBK tries to go for the sweet chin music but Batista counters him with a clothesline. Batista then tries to give him a Batista Bomb over the rope to the stretcher but HBK jumps and gives him the chin music, due to which Batista falls on to the stretcher. Batista held the ring apron while HBK tries to pull it away. HBK slams the stretcher on to his ribs. Batista pulls HBK from the ring and puts him on the stretcher.

At this point Chris Jericho turns up for HBK and tries to encourage him saying “You are better than this” but WWE referees pushes him out. HBK attempts sweet chin music but not had enough power left to overcome Batista. Batista lifts HBK and says “Just so you know, I don’t love you and I’m not sorry”. Batista then gives him Batista Bomb and steered the stretcher past the finish line.
