Friday Night’s SmackDown Results

Batista vs. the Guerreros
SmackDown’s General Manager Vickie Guerrero invited the World Heavyweight Champion Edge as the special guest referee in the night’s main event match between Batista and Chavo Guerrero. It seems as if the match was planned earlier as the scheduled referee Charles Robinson who was supposed to be standing in the match was made to fight against the giant Khali earlier that night.

Vickie was in no mood to spare the Animal and laid a condition that if Batista laid a hand on Edge during the match, he would lose the chance to fight against him in the Night of Champions. Due to the 5-on-1 attack on Batista and Edge’s fast count, the Animal lost the match.

MVP vs. Kane
Along with Batista it was Montel Vontavious Porter who faced the brutality of Vickie. She ordered MVP to take on the ECW Champion Kane. MVP decided to get counted out instead of facing the Big Red Machine.

Bam Neely vs. Matt Hardy
In the debut match Bam Neely lost to Matt Hardy by his signature move the Twist of Fate. Chavo held the attention of the referee who told him to leave the ring. Hardy made full use of the opportunity by hitting the distracted Neely for a win.

A Mismatch
Even the referee Charles Robinson was not spared from the wrath of the new GM. Being unhappy with Robinson’s lack of objectivity in Edge’s matches against Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIV and Judgment Day and also his act of sending Chavo out of the ring, Vickie ordered him to fight against The Great Khali. As one could expect, Robinson left the ring on a stretcher.

Michelle McCool vs. Layla
McCool defeated layla easily using a heel hook to grab the attention of the Diva Natalya who watched the match with concentration.

Kozlov on a winning streak
The winning streak for Vladimir Kozlov continued when he defeated Jamie Noble taking his tally of wins to 11 in a row.

Deuce & Domino vs. Jesse & Festus
This may be the last match of Deuce & Domino as a tag team as the two fought among themselves after their loss to Jesse & Festus.

The Miz vs. Finlay
The Miz, distracted of the action between Hornwoggle and Morrison outside the ring, was defeated by Finlay when he hit him with the Celtic Cross to pick up the win.
