It was a great display of survival instincts of the Batista inside Fresno State University’s Save Mart Center. Batista signed the contract for his World Heavyweight Championship Match against Edge at Night of Champions and preserved his career by defeating The Great Khali.

To be the no. 1 contender to the Edge’s title, Batista signed the contract but the SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero; later informed the Animal of a small change in the contract which was that Batista had to defeat Great Khali that night on SmackDown. Batista was very confident of beating Khali as he has done it earlier.

The Animal hammered the GM by saying that the ugliest thing next to the beatings that he is going to give to Edge at Night of Champions is the woman he’s marrying. Thus the angry GM threw another condition to Batista that if he loses to the Giant in the match he would not only lose the chance to fight to Edge but also be banished from the WWE. Her intentions were clear as she wanted her fiancé Edge to keep the title.

Vickie was soon seen with her wedding planner Alicia Fox where she was interrupted by MVP. MVP wanted to re-negotiate his own SmackDown contract. MVP “took care” of Punk and Batista pulled a great win against Khali with a hard-hitting spear to survive the ultimatum given by Vickie Guerrero.
